TIMELESS FINE-ART PHOTOGRAPHY

People ask how the detail gets so sharp. The honest answer: it's not one thing. It's the whole setup, built for one job.

I've had the privilege of photographing quite a few couples now, and there's a moment I see again and again. A couple comes in — sometimes right after the wedding — and what they walk out with isn't really a photograph. It's the first artwork of their marriage.

Wedding gifts often fall into two groups: useful things from a registry and keepsakes meant to hold a memory. An iris portrait can be both an experience and a finished piece of art, created from something the couple already carries with them.

From a few feet away, an eye may look simply blue, brown, green, gray, or hazel. Move in close, and that simple color opens into something much more detailed: fine fibers, tiny openings, soft rings, and flecks of pigment arranged in a pattern that belongs to one eye alone.

That is why an iris portrait feels so personal. It is not a symbol chosen to represent you. It begins with a real part of you that no one else has in quite the same form.
