7 Occasions to gift an Iris Portrait
-
Newlyweds get plenty of useful things. A couples iris portrait is made only for them: two individual eyes composed into one finished piece, and often the first artwork of their marriage. Book it before the wedding, after the honeymoon, or once the celebrations settle down.
-
An iris portrait captures who two people are right now: a shared history, with each eye still unmistakably its own. A fresh alternative to the traditional first anniversary keepsake, or a marker of a tenth, twenty-fifth, or fiftieth. Finished as a metal, acrylic, canvas, or archival photo print, it
becomes part of their collection.
-
An engagement gift does not have to come off a registry. Their portraits come from real macro photographs of the couple themselves, so the finished piece stays grounded in who they are, with no names, dates, or trends that will feel dated later.
-
An iris portrait focuses on something completely individual: the color shifts, rings, and fibers that are easy to miss in everyday life. It suits the person who says they do not need more stuff, and it works as well for an eighteenth birthday as for a seventieth.
-
Graduation gifts usually carry a school name or a class year, and the person grows beyond both. An iris portrait keeps the focus on the graduate: the individual stepping into whatever comes next. It marks a new career, a professional qualification, or a military transition just as well.
-
Not every defining relationship is romantic or biological. Best friends, mentors, and chosen family hold just as much of our story. A shared iris portrait connects the people in it without making them identical, and each person can choose the presentation that suits them.
-
Holidays are a natural moment for a personal gift, especially for someone who is difficult to shop for. But this gift does not need a date on the calendar. "I saw this and thought of you" can mean more than a present that checks a box, and here in Wilmington it is local and made to order, not mass produced.

They sit for their portrait. About 15 minutes per person at our Wilmington studio. They rest their chin on the headrest, we photograph the iris with a macro lens, and they watch their eye appear on screen as we shoot.
The art is theirs. The finished digital portrait is delivered within 48 hours of the session. Prints and wall art, including ChromaLuxe metal, acrylic, canvas, and archival photo prints, can be ordered afterward.

For the absolute best results and clarity, we recommend removing contact lenses before the session. While clear contacts are completely safe to leave in, the edge of the lens or minor surface dust can sometimes show up under extreme macro magnification. If you wear colored or prescription contacts that cannot be easily removed, just let us know ahead of time.
